Have you Protested Your 2025 Texas Property Taxes yet?
Don’t miss the deadline to protest your 2025 Property Tax Appraisal in Travis, Hays, or Williamson Counties!
If you own property in Travis, Hays, or Williamson County, Texas, it’s time to review your 2025 Notice of Appraised Value. Even if you don’t think your tax appraised value is too high, it’s encouraged to protest every year! Every property owner has the right to file a protest — but you’ll need to act fast.
This year, the deadline to file is Wednesday, May 15, 2025, or 30 days after your appraisal notice is mailed, whichever is later. Each county has slightly different processes for filing your protest. Find your county below:
TRAVIS COUNTY RESIDENTS
In Travis County, you can file online, by mail, or in person through the Travis Central Appraisal District (TCAD).
HAYS COUNTY RESIDENTS
Hays County residents can file online via Hays CAD or submit their protest by email.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY RESIDENTS
For Williamson County property owners, protests can be filed online, by mail, or in person with the Williamson County Appraisal District (WCAD).
To give yourself the best chance of a successful protest, take a few important steps:
- Review your appraisal notice carefully for any errors, such as incorrect property size or condition.
- Gather evidence like recent comparable sales, photographs, and repair estimates that support a lower valuation.
- Consider consulting a professional if you prefer not to handle the process yourself.

Keep in mind: you won’t receive a second notice reminding you to protest. It’s up to you to monitor your mail, mark your calendar, and file promptly to meet the deadline. Protesting your property appraisal can result in meaningful tax savings, so don’t miss the opportunity!
If you have questions about the process, I’m happy to help. Also, each county appraisal district’s website provides helpful guides and contact information. Filing may seem overwhelming at first, but the potential financial benefits make it worth the effort, every time.
